Summary Statement

Fort Boise Community Center offers a range of amenities for residents and visitors. With a 4,500-square-foot Art Center, two dance studios, a gymnasium, a fitness center, and locker rooms, it provides ample opportunities for artistic expression and physical activities.

FBCC Building Attendant:

  • Provides oversight and monitors activities at the Fort Boise Community Center (FBCC).

  • Greets customers in person and on the phone and assists with questions and transactions.

  • Supports program instructors by printing class rosters, and assisting with room set up, clean up, and room reservations.

  • Supervises building in the evenings and on weekends while activities are taking place and handles cash transactions.

  • Work is performed under general supervision.

  • This position is open to all interested persons aged 18 and older.

  • Works up to 19 hours per week, including evenings.

  • This position is designated as At-Will.

Essential Functions

Uses software to process registrations for a variety of recreational programs. Conveys information regarding class details and scholarships. Accurately performs cash handling duties while operating a Point of Sale system to process fees and reconciliation. (35%)

Provides customer service and answers questions about programs for all guests and assists with program registration and provides oversight and monitors activities to ensure a safe environment for patrons and staff. (35%)

Evening/weekend building supervisor. Sets up/takes down equipment as needed. Performs light janitorial tasks and opens/closes building. Supports program coordinators with a variety of tasks including canceled classes, refunds, or specific projects as assigned. (20%)

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

One year of experience working with the general public, answering phones, and handling cash.

Working knowledge of customer service techniques; cash handling procedures; basic addition and subtraction.

Ability to provide a high level of customer service; interact with the general public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training

One year of experience in customer service.

Applicants must be able to pass:

City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Physical Efforts

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds. The noise level is rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk and hear. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand and walk. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment

The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions.

This position works:

19-Hour Temporary

All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.

4-Month Temporary

All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.

8-Month Seasonal

In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.

9-Month Temporary

In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
