Position Summary

We have an immediate need for an experienced Mechanical Engineer in our Cork, Ireland facility. In this position, you will perform essential duties to developing designs for Engineering and Manufacturing. You will work closely with Design Engineers and under minimal supervision. This position is responsible for new platfrom designs, type I, II and III, including all documentation and data associated with the task.

Essential Responsibilities

• Specializes in a particular technological area of product design, involving highly complex, technical design concepts involving a wide range of products requiring diversified knowledge.

• Assists Engineering in reference or investigative work related to product design development.

• Responsible to diagnose complex issues with design of products and recommend/implement corrective actions.

• Supports the development and integration of new technologies into manufacturing processes.

• Provides technical leadership to less senior designers.

• Tutors/mentors staff relative to mechanical packaging concepts.

• Assists in compliance of documentation to AE standards.

• Interacts with manufacturers to produce manufacturable and cost efficient parts.

• Attends meetings to gather information, identify and implement solutions.

• Continues to research the development of current industry technology and disseminate to other personnel.

• Other duties as assigned.

Experience

• 5–7 years of related design experience plus 5 years of drafting experience or equivalent education.

• Must have working knowledge of manufacturing process

• Expertise in the design, documentation and maintenance of sheet metal and mechanical parts.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar

Skills

• Must have a working knowledge of ISO GPS.

• Must show advanced computer skills with AE defined CAD software.

• Must have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

• Ability to manage projects from start to finish including conformance to scheduling, and resource utilization management.

• Ability to exercise judgment in method, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

• Ability to determine methods and procedures on new assignments, and provide guidance to other employees.

• Assists design engineers with professional opinions, reference materials, testing methods, etc. for all new product development efforts.

• Demonstrated leadership skills.
