Reference #: 4365480 THE POSITION Are you a college student in search of limited-term employment that will allow you to gain experience in researching and analyzing data? The Bureau of Consumer Services (BCS) Policy Division is looking to hire two highly motivated individuals who are interested in playing an integral role in the development and implementation of public policies associated with universal services and the customer service practices and procedures of public utilities. The interns will be respectively assigned to the Energy Policy Unit and the Competition, Regulatory Practices and Procedures Unit within the Policy Division of BCS.

In addition to being exposed to critical issues in energy policy and utility customer service practices and requirements, the interns will be engaged in projects that will enable them to acquire key analytical, communications, and leadership skills. Our ideal candidates will have an interest and understanding of public policy, including the legislative and regulatory policy processes, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Intern within the BCS Policy Division, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, including: Energy Policy Unit: You will be conducting research in energy policy topics and disciplines, including reviewing Commission Orders and assembling a staff reference guide of pertinent decisions impacting public utility consumers.

Competition, Regulatory Practices, and Procedures Unit: You will be conducting research and developing protocols for BCS procedures and training and will develop a training curriculum for new and seasoned BCS policy employees that optimizes opportunities for continued staff development.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Limited-term, seasonal employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: Current enrollment as a full-time undergraduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared bachelor's degree program and successful completion of at least sixty (60) college credits at the time of hire. Full time undergraduate students who have successfully completed at least thirty (30) college credits and anticipate the completion of at least sixty (60) college credits at the time of hire may apply for this program. Current enrollment as a graduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared master's or doctorate degree program at the time of hire. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Additional Requirements: You must have effective verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical abilities, interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as a member of a team, and be responsible for maintaining confidential information. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Current enrollment in fields of study pertaining to Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Organizational Leadership, Management, or Training and Development.
