The role you’ll contribute:

The Cancer Registry Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations and personnel within their reporting structure of the Central Florida Division Cancer Registry team. This involves training new employees on the registries as well as providing the existing employees with training when registry changes are made on a national level or internally. The Cancer Registry Supervisor serves as a content expert for abstracting activities ensuring that all reportable cancer cases are accurately captured and in accordance with national, state and accreditation requirements. This position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing monthly quality assurance reports to ensure standards are being met before sending it to the state and national registries for submission and to ensure quality benchmarks are met. The Cancer Registry Supervisor will partner with leadership to manage potential discrepancies in documentation or care variation

· Responsible for seeking opportunities to maintain clinical expertise to incorporate latest developments and trends related to the cancer registry and national clinical guidelines. Attends educational, registry or other conferences and training as appropriate.

· Helps to develop and maintain high-performing personnel

· Assist Cancer Registry Manager in hiring and recruitment process

· Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department

· Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of reference manuals, materials and notices used to ensure quality data and compliance with FCDS, CoC, AdventHealth Cancer Registry standards

· Technical qualifications including knowledge of the disease process, diagnostic methods and procedures, composition of the health record, data interpretation, and statistical and analytical skills

· Skilled in the use of the following standardized coding instructions and rules: Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) Solid Tumor Multiple Primary and Histology rule set, Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) Hematopoietic and Lymphoid Neoplasm Coding Manual and Database, Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) RX - Interactive Drug Database, Commission on Cancer's Standards for Oncology Registry Entry (STORE) Manual, and the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) Data Acquisition Manual.

· Proficiency with computerized cancer registry databases, word processing software, and windows-based operating system

· Knowledge of ACoS/CoC and state registry data collection requirements; able to accurately interpret components of medical record including operative, pathology, radiology, lab and autopsy reports

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

· Three (3) years of direct experience working as a Certified Tumor Registrar

· Associates degree in Healthcare or Health Information Management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Two (2) or more years of abstracting experience in a CoC approved Cancer Program

· Supervisory experience in cancer registry or related field
