Summary You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL OFFICE, RADIOLOGICAL MONITORING DIVISION (Code 105.3) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. SALARY RANGES: GS-04: $42,932 - $53,992 GS-05: $46,905 - $59,280 GS-06: $51,030 - $64,830 GS-07: $56,706 - $72,041 GS-08: $65,896 - $82,875 GS-09: $72,783 - $91,538 GS-10: $76,381 - $97,032 Responsibilities You will conduct air, water, and surface radiation surveys in shipyard areas You will check out deviations from normal or anticipated radiation levels You will implement radiological control (RADCON) procedures related to the storage, local transportation, and treatment of small volumes of nuclear waste You will monitor the storage and transportation of contaminated equipment You will identify conditions which affect the determination of actions necessary to contain and control radiation You will ensure adherence to RADCON requirements You will recommend changes to work plans and trades procedures to improve radiological controls, correct deficiencies, increase efficiency, minimize exposure and prevent incidents Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications FOR THE GS-04: Six (6) months of general experience and six (6) months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-03) FOR THE GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) FOR THE GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) FOR THE GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) FOR THE GS-08: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) FOR THE GS-09: One year of professional specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) FOR THE GS-10: One year of professional specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=GS-TECH. Education EDUCATION MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AS FOLLOWS: FOR THE GS-04: Successful completion of two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics. FOR THE GS-05: Successful completion of four years of education above high school leading to a Bachelor's degree with courses such as physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics, OR a combination of post high school education and specialized experience that equates to one year of experience. FOR THE GS-07: Successful completion of one year of graduate education that is directly related to the job being filled OR a combination of graduate education and specialized experience that equates to one year. FOR THE GS-09: Successful completion of two full years of graduate education that is directly related to the job being filled OR a combination of graduate education and specialized experience that equates to one year.
