Robert Half Payroll Clerk in Rochester, New York

Description We are looking for a diligent Payroll Clerk to join our team in Rochester, New York. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. This involves maintaining payroll records, calculating wages, and addressing any payroll-related inquiries. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Compile and maintain employee time and attendance records.

• Calculate and process employee wages, including overtime, deductions, and bonuses.

• Ensure accurate and timely distribution of paychecks or direct deposits.

• Maintain and update employee payroll records.

• Verify and reconcile timesheets and attendance records.

• Track and manage employee leave balances.

• Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Assist in preparing reports for internal and external audits.

• Address employee inquiries related to payroll.

• Collaborate with HR and finance departments to resolve discrepancies.

• Provide clear and accurate information to employees regarding payroll matters.

• Analyze payroll data to identify trends or discrepancies.

• Generate and interpret payroll reports for management.

• Use ADP - Payroll software to process payroll efficiently. Requirements • Demonstrated experience in a Payroll Clerk role or similar financial administration role.

• Proficiency in ADP - Payroll or similar payroll software.

• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; further education in finance or related field is a plus.

• Knowledge of standard accounting principles and payroll regulations.

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve discrepancies.

• Willingness to continually update knowledge and understanding of payroll requirements.
