\$20.08/Hr Step 4 to \$25.81/Hr Step 20, Depending on qualifications

Job Duties

Operate chemical applicating truck and hand-held spray equipment to apply chemicals for the control of weeds along

County right-of-ways, pastures and other areas as directed. Make inspections on private property for noxious weed

infestations. Maintain daily spraying records and submit to the Supervisor. Work with public on a daily basis. May be

assigned to assist with setting up and tearing down for events in the Expo Center including cleaning restrooms and

facilities. Assist in general labor and ground maintenance as assigned including grass mowing, cleaning, trash disposal

and scooping and cleaning out of livestock stalls. Perform general maintenance on vehicles, equipment and buildings.

May be required to work nights and weekends as needed. Will be assigned to Road & Bridge Department crew during

times of snow and ice if not needed at the Livestock & Expo Center (Farm /Noxious Weed) Department.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must have a High School diploma or the equivalent. Any combination of education and experience approved by the

Director may be substituted for the High School diploma or the equivalent.

2. Must have a valid Commercial Drivers License with tanker & air brake endorsement and be insurable under Saline

Countys fleet insurance policy.

3. Will be required to complete the Basic Training Course of Weed Chemicals offered by Kansas State University and

Kansas State Board of Agriculture within one (1) year of employment.

4. Required to pass General Test and be Category 9A and 6 certified by the Plant Health Division of the State Department

of Agriculture within one (1) year of employment, maintain certification throughout employment and provide proof of

certification on an annual basis.

5. Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

6. Must be able to work nights and weekends, as needed.

7. Must be able to work with public in a professional and congenial manner on a daily basis.

8. Must have a general knowledge of building maintenance, i.e. plumbing, construction, electrical.

9. Farming or agricultural background helpful.

Physical Requirements

Determined Work Level: Level 4 Heavy Work **will accept applicants at 3.50 exerting in excess of 100

pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds

of force constantly. Possess eye/hand/foot coordination sufficient to drive vehicles and operate spray equipment.
